If you are looking to play golf on some of the finest golf courses to play in Spain, consider Costa Brava, Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and Costa de la Luz. Our review of the top 5 courses is compiled by our experienced team of travel experts. This list offers you a taste of this country’s impressive selection of courses. Let’s head into our list of suggestions with an amazing Mallorca course.

Number 5 – Club de Golf Alcanada

Alcanada Golf Course Lighthouse view

Located in Port d’Alcudia in Mallorca, Alcanda Golf Course is one of the best-designed golf courses with spectacular views over the Mediterranean sea. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr and opened for play in 2003, this challenging and rewarding course blends naturally into the landscape.

The opening hole is a good indication of the test that lies ahead. However, this is a relatively short par 5 at just over 500 yards, with no room for error from the tee. A tight fairway awaits and out of bounds left with bunkers capturing anything short and right. Even with your best tee shot down you still face a challenging hole with risk or reward.

Moving through the course, there is a camera on the tee of the 7th hole recording your drive so you can have footage of your drive emailed to you. No pressure for the ultimate golfing in Spain experience!

Number 4 – Real Club de Golf Sotogrande

Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, at the western end of the Costa del Sol in Spain, located near Gibraltar at the western end of Spain’s Costa del Sol, was Robert Trent Jones’ first course in Europe. He is one of the most well-known course designers of his generation. Hazeltine, Spyglass Hill, and the Congressional Golf Club are among his most well-known projects.

From the back tees, this par 72 course measures 7,100 yards. It is only a short distance from the Mediterranean Sea. The course features long tee boxes and wide-open fairways that lead to guarded elevated greens. With numerous tee boxes to choose from, this classic golf course is appropriate for golfers of all skill levels. The calibre of previous champions reflects the quality of the course. To name a few, champions include Seve Ballesteros, Jose Mara Olazabal, Roberto de Vicenzo, Sergio Garca, Padraig Harrington, and Rory McIlroy.

The designs of Robert Trent Jones tempt you to take risks that you should avoid. Beautiful views and an intelligent course design. All of his courses are a credit to Spanish golf, providing an unforgettable experience with a variety of challenging holes.

Number 3 – Las Colinas Golf & Country Club

Situated in San Miguel de Salinas, Alicante, Spain, Las Colinas golf course, designed by renowned North American landscape architect Cabell B. Robinson. Designer of world-class golf courses such as La Reserva in Sotogrande. A great mix of challenging holes for all golfers, not just Spaniards. You must hit a long, accurate tee shot at the start of one hole, followed by a shorter, lay-up shot on the next.

Despite providing a good test for golfers, the course is fair and low scores are achievable. Miguel ngel JimĂ©nez designed the new “Las Colinas Short Game Facility,” which is one of the best in continental Europe. Las Colinas is a true championship course worthy of hosting European Tour events, and it is an excellent base for a Costa Blanca golf holiday.

Number 2: PGA Catalunya Stadium Course

PGA Catalunya Island green

The PGA Catalunya Stadium Course at PGA Catalunya could be the number one position for the best golf courses in Spain. TThe Stadium Course is one of the best golf courses we’ve played anywhere in the world. Located in Girona on the Costa Brava, at the foot of the Pyrenees. At this world-class resort, golfers have two fantastic course options.

There are two courses: the Tour course and the Stadium course. PGA Catalunya’s golf facilities are faultless. It’s unusual to find so many memorable holes on one course, but the 6th Hole is the best of the bunch. With a dogleg to the left, a tight tee shot, and a green surrounded by five bunkers, this hole is both difficult and spectacular. The course was created with the European Tour and the Ryder Cup in mind. Each hole is a clever, rewarding, and beautifully manicured combination.

Number 1 – Real Club Valderrama

Located in San Roque, Sotogrande, Valderrama Golf Club is a bucket-list golf course and our number 1 golf course in Spain. It has consistently ranked among the top ten courses in continental Europe. However, once you’ve played this iconic course, you’ll understand how great it is. Tee-time availability is limited, with only a few tee-times available to non-members. This is a must-play bucket list course for any golf enthusiast.

Who can forget the pivotal moments of the 1997 Ryder Cup?

The first Ryder Cup to be held on European soil. Despite a massive 5-point lead, Seve Ballesteros led the Europeans to a narrow victory. Recreate shots like Graeme McDowell’s incredible albatross on the 17th hole at the 2007 Andalusian Masters.

The 4th hole (La Cascada) is a favourite, a fantastic par 5 that requires precision play. Valderrama is consistently ranked among the top five golf courses in the world, alongside St. Andrews Old Course and Pebble Beach.

We play a lot of golf in the Marbella region of the Costa del Sol, and of all the courses available, Valderrama is the best.

Finally, its worth remembering that there are so many top quality courses to play, a golf holiday to Spain https://www.360golfholidays.com/spain/ whether its in the Costa Del Sol, Costa Brava, Costa Blanca or Costa De La Luz is sure to be memorable.
